Know who's ready for their next stripe without counting classes by hand

DojoTally was born at BJJ Life, a jiu jitsu academy in Puerto Madryn, Argentina. It counts every student's classes, flags who's close to their next stripe or next belt under IBJJF rules, collects monthly fees and answers whoever asks on Instagram.

  • Free up to 10 students
  • Kids and adult belts
  • Gi and no-gi on the same schedule

Belts and stripes

IBJJF time requirements built in, and the coach has the final say

When you add the IBJJF belts, DojoTally brings in their minimum ages and times: blue from age 16, two years at blue, a year and a half at purple and one at brown before black. You set the classes and mat hours each stripe requires. From there it builds the list of who already qualifies and who's at 80%.

  • Stripes on the barFour per belt from white to brown, counted from the last promotion
  • From Kids to adultsOnce a kid is past 15, the suggestion skips the Kids belts and goes straight to the adult one
  • Staff onlyStudents see their belt and stripes, not the list or the requirements
  • Group promotionsAfter the ceremony you mark everyone who was promoted and the history is saved

It's a suggestion: a promotion is always a button a person presses.

Schedule and attendance

Gi, no-gi and Kids, each class with its own roster

You build the week with all your classes, on the same mat or in different rooms. Students check in on the tablet at the door with their PIN or the QR code on their member card, and that attendance is what counts toward their stripes. The card shows their belt and redraws itself whenever you add a stripe.

  • Attendance by class: who came to gi, who came to no-gi and who came to open mat
  • Mat hours based on how long each class runs
  • Kids classes don't count as an absence for an adult

Competitions

From tournament to podium, no WhatsApp group required

You add the tournament with its date, registration deadline and fee. Each student is entered with their division (belt, weight, age, gi or no-gi) and moves from interested to registered to paid. When they're back, you log the result: gold, silver, bronze or competed.

  • Students who compete in gi and no-gi get a result for each
  • The registration fee goes on the student's account
  • From the portal, students tap “I'm interested” and you enter them in their division

BJJ Life students and coaches on the mat
BJJ Life, Puerto Madryn: the jiu jitsu academy that uses DojoTally every day.
Do I need a gi? It's one of the questions a jiu jitsu academy gets most, and it comes in at all hours. The agent answers it anyway.

The DojoTally agent reads your real schedule: it knows which classes are for beginners and won't offer open mat to someone who's never stepped on a mat. It books the trial class, sends the reminder and, if they didn't show, reaches out to reschedule.

Questions from jiu jitsu academies

Are the IBJJF time requirements mandatory?

No. They're a starting point: you can change the classes, hours, months and ages for each belt, or leave blank whatever you don't use. The list only tells you who meets your rule; promotions are always a coach's call.

What happens with kids who turn 16?

Kids belts go up to age 15. Once a student is past that age, the suggestion stops proposing Kids belts and shows the adult one, respecting the minimum age for blue.

Can my students see how close they are to their next stripe?

No. They see their belt and stripes in the portal and on their member card, but the promotions list and the requirements are staff only. Nothing shows up on the kiosk.

Can I bring my students over with the belts and stripes they already have?

Yes. We help you switch: each student starts with their belt and stripes, and if you know the date of their last promotion, the count picks up from there.

Does it work if I also teach muay thai or MMA?

Yes. Each discipline has its own classes, plans and promotion requirements. See how it works for muay thai and for MMA.

Fewer stripe spreadsheets. More time on the mat.
